Introduction to Entrepreneurship

Course Summary: The course designed to help students develop an understanding of complex tasks faced by individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities. This class identifies the methods for developing a business idea, the process of starting a business, how to acquire investors, and the key parts of a business plan. In this class students will create a business plan to help prepare for creating a business.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)s


  1. Given an in-class essay assignment, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of subject matter related to launching a new business in a concise and organized fashion using proper paragraph composition, sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and word use with at least 70% accuracy.
  2. Given a business plan as a semester-long class project, students will be able to demonstrate content knowledge as well as appropriate and competent writing by preparing a business plan (complete with a marketing 


Introduction to Personal Computers

Introduction to database software. In Computer 130, students will be introduced to the world of microcomputers by exploring, operating, and performing a multitude of functions on the computer. Students will focus on how computers can effectively help them at school, at home, and in the economic world. Students will be introduced to basic computer concepts, Microsoft Windows 10, File Management, Microsoft Word (Word Processor), Microsoft Excel (Spreadsheet), and Microsoft Access (Database).

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO)s

 

  1. Given a timed production test, students will be able to create and edit a business letter with 70% accuracy.
  2. Given a timed production test, students will be able to create a functioning spreadsheet with proper formulas and formatting with 70% accuracy.
  3. Given a timed production, students will be able to extract specific information from a business database with 70% accuracy.


Introduction to Business Law

 Purpose of this course is to examine the basic principles of law that are applicable to specific subjects. Topics included are the nature, development and source of law, methods of enforcement in the civil court system, contracts, agency, criminal law, torts and business torts, administrative law in economic regulation, labor and employment, and aspects of international business transactions. Discussion, analysis, and case studies.
